Social Networking for Business Women: 3 June

by Joanna on April 21, 2009

A brief interruption to the ‘breathing space’ schedule to share some news, and let you know about a conference, event and training opportunity that you might be interested in.

I’m going to be speaking at the Social Networking for Business Women Conference: Online Global Training Expo, on the 3 June.

I’m going to be talking about how to make blogging an integral part of your business:

Blogging is an essential element of your business on the web… but how do you find the time to blog on top of everything else?  Where do you get the ideas for new content, week after week, month after month?

Find out how to make blogging easier & more natural by linking it to other aspects of your business: testing out ideas;  dealing with queries; learning & development; reflection and review

You can find out more about the other speakers here - I know there are lots of things that I want to learn more about on that list (passive income in particular).

The event has its origins in social media… of course.  Here’s how Lesley Johnston, the organiser, describes how it came about:

Social Networking for Business Women is all about connecting business women, learning from each other and supporting each others business growth.  In order to celebrate this, I had a conversation with a few members after the first Twitter Networking Event and realised that through the group, I could give them a bigger voice to showcase their talents and amazing business skills.

After another conversation with Lisa McGuire from the same Twitter Event we made the dream of having an online event go from dream to reality overnight!

The whole idea for the conference was to provide speakers who would TEACH the attendees how to apply what they were teaching to their own business so that after the event, they would be able to reap the benefits instead of just attending talks.  This event needed to be more step by step instructions.

Lesley is also developing new ways to connect and engage the speakers and participants before the event to make sure everyone gets the most out of it.  That includes interviews with the speakers beforehand - you can sign up for information on the what / when / how of those interviews from this page.

To sign up for the event, follow this link.  As a speaker at the event I can offer you a $50 discount on the ticket price. Please contact me for details of the discount code - you can email me at  joanna[@]

I know I’m going to be learning a lot from participating in and speaking at this event, including all sorts of technological wizardry.  If you’ve any questions about the event, please do just ask and I’ll do my best to get the answers and information for you.

PS Links to the booking site are affiliate links - which means I get a percentage of the sales if you sign up from here: designed as a win:win :-)

Howdy Joanna, and kudos for the gig! I know you’ll be great, and they’ll come away with a better appreciation of just what it is we do - and why.

Robert, thank you :-) It’s a great opportunity for me, and like you say, I hope I’ll be able to communicate how many benefits blogging has, and different ways you can do it to make the experience as easy and fun as possible.

is there any possibility of reading your speech after the event? I just popped over and it is an impressive list of speakers. Do they publish materials afterwards?

Joanna, you will definitely rock! I’m not sure I’ll be able to make it, so I’m also extremely curious to read your reply to Ulla’s question :)

Ulla, Alina, I’ll check this out and let you know.

Alina, thanks for your words, I’ll think of that when I’m nerve wracked before I do it!

The materials should be available for purchase afterwards; you can also tune in for free to the pre-conference interviews (including with me, gulp!), and that should give you some ideas and insights about the conference, and the specific tips and suggestions from the different speakers
