Writing coaching: background and experience

Writing experience and qualifications

I’ve almost twenty years experience of working in the public sector, including five years heading up a community health project in Castlemilk, Glasgow and ten years as a civil servant working with the Scottish Executive in central Edinburgh and Leith. I’ve written countless business documents in that time including:

  • notes and minutes of meetings
  • press releases
  • annual reports
  • funding applications
  • government reports on policy issues
  • Ministerial speeches

I have trained with the London School of Journalism, completing their certificate in freelance and features writing.

Blog writing credits include my writing here, @ Confident Writing

@ Coaching Wizardry, my former coaching site

@Joyful Jubilant Learning, in a community learning network run by management coach Rosa Say

@ Business Blog Angel, where I write for Blog Angel Claire Raikes on a freelance basis

Coaching experience and qualifications

I am trained as a life coach and NLP practitioner - which means I focus on what can be done, on how you can do it, and the benefits that confident writing will bring to you, whether that be in your personal or professional life. I’m also trained in dyslexia coaching and am a certified practitioner in the art and science of storytelling and metaphor (ask me about it sometime!)

I’ve been working as a coach since 2006, making the switch to focusing on writing coaching in the summer of 2007.

I’m a member of the Association for Coaching and the ANLP
